Six gates light up on the A+ Scalp Dashboard, and the beginner assumption is that a full row of six is six confirmations. It isn't — and understanding why is one of the most valuable things this course teaches. Some gates vote on the GO and some are only context, and several of them ask nearly the same question, so "5 of 5" is often closer to two independent facts. This lesson walks each gate, tells you which ones vote, and shows you how to read a row honestly.
This matters because stacking correlated signals and calling it "confluence" is one of the most common ways traders fool themselves into a low-quality entry.
The six gates, one at a time

A few notes that change how you read them:
- True VWAP is the most important lane — it decides which direction is even eligible, and it reads from a fixed source timeframe so it can't flip just because you changed your chart's timeframe. If VWAP says long, shorts aren't on the menu.
- The 2-Candle stack is a confluence stamp, not an early read — it needs price beyond ORB and EMA and VWAP simultaneously, so it's almost always the last lane to light.
- RVOL has no direction — it's cyan, a filter, not a tiebreaker. It adds participation to whichever side is playing.
- EMA and RSI are context — they colour the picture but never cast a vote.
Which gates vote — and the honest count
GO fires when all the voting gates agree on a side. But here's the honesty note the dashboard is built around: gates 1, 3, and 4 (ORB, EMA, VWAP) all ask "which side of a level is price on?" — and intraday, those levels cluster and flip nearly together. So a full green row looks like five confirmations but is closer to two independent facts. Toggle the gates and watch the honest count:
Built vs snapped: the durability tell
The dashboard exposes this with a build spread readout — how the gates lit:
built 12 bars— the gates lit sequentially, one after another over many bars. Durable. The move earned its confluence.snapped— everything flipped in a single bar. Fragile. One candle crossed every level at once, and the next candle can un-cross them.
A GO that built is a very different animal from a GO that snapped, even though both show the same lit row. On an option, a snapped GO that reverses next bar is exactly the false PASS from Lesson 1. Prefer built.
The per-gate hit-rates are not a backtest
You'll see percentage columns next to each gate (e.g. 52% (n=152)). Read these carefully: they are in-sample, current-chart-only figures, and their ordering largely reflects how long each signal persists, not how much edge it has. They are a smoke detector for gross breakage, not a scale you can rank gates by. Treat them like you'd treat any win-rate number without a confidence interval — interesting, not authoritative. The takeaway for now: know which gates vote, respect that VWAP owns the direction, count independent facts instead of lit lanes, and prefer a GO that built over one that snapped.
