A dense dashboard is only an asset if you can read it at a glance. The A+ Scalp Dashboard is built around two visual rules that, once they click, let you read the whole cockpit in a second: hue says WHAT, and transparency says HOW SURE. This lesson is the reading key. Master it and every lane, gate, and state in the rest of the course becomes legible; skip it and the dashboard is just colourful noise.

The rules exist because a scalper doesn't have time to read numbers — you need the chart to look right or wrong instantly, the way reading a clean price chart becomes automatic with practice.


Rule one: one colour, one meaning

Every hue on the dashboard means exactly one thing, on every lane:

a side is asserted (act-here)
Neon
evidence, but no side (a filter)
Cyan
real, but do NOT act
Amber
a reference level
White
nothing is true here
Grey

That discipline is why you can glance at a lane and know its type before you read its label. Cyan is never a buy; amber is never a green light. When you see neon, a side is being claimed — and only then does direction even enter the picture.


Rule two: transparency is confidence — only solid counts

This is the rule that separates the A+ dashboard from a checkbox indicator. A gate isn't binary. It has three visual states:

  • ░ near-invisible — the condition is false.
  • ▒ dim — the condition is true, but not yet held. This is the wick that's about to fail.
  • █ solid — the condition has held for the required number of closed bars. Only this counts.

A condition must stay true for N consecutive closed bars (the Held Bars setting, default 2) before its gate lights solid. That's the difference between a break and a tick — and it's exactly where most checklist indicators lie, by counting the dim as done. Flip a gate and hold it yourself:

💡 TIP
When you scan the dashboard, mentally delete everything that isn't solid. A row of dim lanes is a setup that hasn't happened yet, no matter how green it looks. Solid = held = real.

The seven lanes at a glance

The dashboard stacks seven lanes. Lanes 1–6 are gates (each is one fact, coloured by that fact). Lane 7 is the state machine (where you are in the sequence, not a fact). Here's the map — we'll go deep on each in later lessons:

The single most important thing to notice now: brightness on lane 7 means how far through the sequence you are, not how true it is. A bright state is not a strong signal — it's a late one. We'll use that distinction hard in Lesson 6.


Reading a real dashboard

Look back at the SPCX cockpit from Lesson 1. 4. VWAP · Above 134.94, held is a solid, held gate — it counts. 3. 9 EMA · Not held is dim — it does not. GO · LONG 3 of 3 · built 336 bars tells you the voting gates agree and that they built up over many bars rather than snapping in one. And state · PULLBACK long tells you where in the sequence price is — not that you should click. Every one of those readings comes straight from the two rules above.

Learn to read the cockpit this way and you've earned the right to study what each gate actually requires — which is exactly the kind of pre-trade discipline that separates a plan from a reaction.
